Random Delights

Holly: Sorry to hear your hamster died Bob... Bob: Window cleaners for British rail should watch out for flying man-eating deckchairs today, swimming in from the south along with the flea-ridden coathangers. The muffin man is responsible for the sudden outburst of rain yesterday as he forgot to pay the rent on his blue strawberries. I'm sorry, did you say you wanted a biscuit? Holly: Random! Custard cream please.

Dream bigger

I have always dreamed, both little and big... little dreams about being able to fly... Dreams that our house was moved closer to where I got picked up by the school bus, so I wouldn't have to ride to the bus ... Dreams that I would become a ballet dancer ... I dreamed of wearing a crown of pearls and diamonds... I dreamed of finally finishing that tutu beaded with crytals ... I dreamed of coming home from school to discover that our house had suddenly become a 2-storey building, and my room was the attic.

I dreamed that I could ride a horse across the country(despite my mum being allergic to them)... I dreamed that one day I would wake up and my room had been cleaned up by fairies... I dreamed that I was a grown up ... and now that I am ... well I have learnt that it is still possible to dream. I have always loved to discover places and sights and sounds and texures and smells ...

I was walking with some friends today along the Thames River and I suddenly remembered how I used to dream. Along the walk I discovered the most incredibly home, created like a fairy tale.

To really get the most from this photo you have to understand the people that created it. I have taken the liberty of recreating their conversations ...

"So honey.. I know we agreed to take the boat up to Thames to the Cotswolds, but I think this might be a good alternative. We have to consider the kids... there are some great schools around here and the views are spectacular."

"You do come up with some crazy schemes... But I am prepared to go along with you on this... I think we could really turn this into a lovely home."

Now... as all of me started to stretch my wings and imagine the very people who have called this place home I turned the corner. Then I really began to appreciate the boldness of choice. I love that they dreamed outside the box.

I realised that I had begun to dream again, when my friend said to me "I think you could be in that fairy tale Mish". I have to agree with him. I do believe that when you dream big, the fairy tale gets a little bit closer. You just need to look a bit harder...

    Beautiful... beautiful :-)
I can totally see you living in that fairy tale Mishy! I reckon I'd pull up in a boat next door. And it might be pink and glittery too, probably :-)

It's only in the magic of the fairy tale where we can lose ourselves and then truly find ourselves again.
