The Power of Passion
Passion = A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger.
Boundless enthusiasm. The object of such enthusiasm - such as Eurovision.
Just over a year ago, a very beautiful and special friend, taught me about a special time of year called Eurovision. At first I took some convincing, but finally I decided that this year was the year to make disciples of many... and surprisingly we had a strong following who embraced a new love of all things Eurovision.
The updated list of competing countries - complete with flag
It all started with a crazy idea of mine, to invite my new friends and lots of old friends to help celebrate all that is trashy and yet beautiful about Eurovision 2006. We had a super-contender representing Britain called Daz Sampson. He wrote a crazy rap about school and had wee-little teeny boppers in school dressers dancing around him. Not the greatest showing, to be sure... but at least England was giving it a go.

I discovered there are 2 very distinct groups of people who have very definate ideas about Eurovision. Those that will not have anything to do with this crazy-trashy-cheesy spectacular... and those who know little or nothing of it, but are willing to learn.
You can see below some of the willing converts... it was especially easy to swing the guys over, with all the beautiful Norweigan blondes in short skirts... but winning the girls over after the crazy display of Finland (who have redefined the use of rubber and Euro-pop) was a little more difficult!!
Still to be convinced of the power of Eurovision .. or are they !
I think the gretaest lesson to be learnt from this blatant display of Eurovision passion, is that passion is contagious. I actually (telling the truth now) have not got a clue about Eurovision. But a bit of quick revision on the trusty internet and no one was any the wiser. In fact a very profound friend of mine, who was swayed by the blonde Norweigan girls, suggested even grander designs next year.
Next year there WILL be a big -screen display, along with a necessary voting schedule, and each person will have to come in theme, supporting a pre-determined country. I can already see the vision of it...

Oh YEAH BABY! Euro-tastic! Don't worry, I'm spreading the word in Australia now too :-) You might have been an unbeliever at first, but you're certainly making up for it now! I'm so proud...
