Random Delights

Holly: Sorry to hear your hamster died Bob... Bob: Window cleaners for British rail should watch out for flying man-eating deckchairs today, swimming in from the south along with the flea-ridden coathangers. The muffin man is responsible for the sudden outburst of rain yesterday as he forgot to pay the rent on his blue strawberries. I'm sorry, did you say you wanted a biscuit? Holly: Random! Custard cream please.

Agape

I was inspired by a beautiful hand-painted present from my niece. It challenged me, to admire the beautiful around me.... In a city like London is it often hard to see beauty around me. I see sadness, anger, bitterness, decay and destruction.

But, each day I awake challenged to see the smile across from me... I awake challenged to count how many pink shirts I can see on the way to work... Yes there is beauty in this wonderous people of London. (they are just sometimes hard to love)

It got me thinking of all sorts of notions ... but I think this quote by a great man surmises it best

" Agape is the understanding, creative, redemptive goodwill toward all men. Agape is the overflowing love, which seeks nothing in return. Theologians would say that it is the love of God operating in the human heart. When you rise to love on this level, you love all men not because you like them, not because their ways appeal to you, but you love them because God loves them."

    Beautiful!
I must confess that seeing pink shirts makes me smile too :-) I also look for odd socks, they make me laugh out loud ;-) I hate ironing, (can't even spell the word, it took me four goes to get it right!) and I often leave the house looking ludicrously rumpled. I'm sure a few people have had a secret giggle at me!
One of my favourite Jane Austen quotes: "For what do we live, but to make sport of our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn?"
