Random Delights

Holly: Sorry to hear your hamster died Bob... Bob: Window cleaners for British rail should watch out for flying man-eating deckchairs today, swimming in from the south along with the flea-ridden coathangers. The muffin man is responsible for the sudden outburst of rain yesterday as he forgot to pay the rent on his blue strawberries. I'm sorry, did you say you wanted a biscuit? Holly: Random! Custard cream please.

My random-events soul mate

Hmmm.... the true glory of this story is such that is requires you to fully imagine the scene...

I am travelling back from Farringdon on the Northern line, with my beautiful friend Nols. We are happily chatting about many things, when the coolest thing happened.

The man sitting opposite us, leans across and takes a picture of the opposite side of the tube carriage. At which point my curiousity can take no more. So I ask quite endearingly "Did you just take a picture of a chick?". And his rather bemused reply was "Do you see any chicks over there?" To which my reply was "Oh yeah, there aren't any chicks there."

It transpires as we chatted that he is my RANDOM EVENTS SOUL-MATE. He started to wax lyrical about the beauty of all the people caught on his camera who make up the wonderous nature of what a tube carriage looks like. Allow me to paint the picture... Business men in suits, with big overcoats and briefcases, carrying the Guardian or Times or Financial times papers. Then there was the media boys, dressed in jeans and converse trainers with cool suit jackets. Then there was the finance girls in there power suits and back-packs with gym gear. It was too early for the party crowd, but I think you get the general picture.

We chatted for about 5 minutes and I felt it was important for my new RANDOM EVENTS SOUL-MATE to hear about the joy I had one day on discovering this beautiful sign by Transport for London (bearing in mind the signs usually say DELAYS AND THEN SOME MORE DELAYS) ...

And that my friends, says it all. If you don't get it, that's okay. Because, I realised that some people get random and some people don't. What matters is that you laugh. At what and when is entirely up to you.
