Random Delights

Holly: Sorry to hear your hamster died Bob... Bob: Window cleaners for British rail should watch out for flying man-eating deckchairs today, swimming in from the south along with the flea-ridden coathangers. The muffin man is responsible for the sudden outburst of rain yesterday as he forgot to pay the rent on his blue strawberries. I'm sorry, did you say you wanted a biscuit? Holly: Random! Custard cream please.

Capitalism in the city

Well ... top of the mornin' to ya. As I pulled myself out of bed this morning, which felt far too early, I felt a bit ripped off. I think having too many days off from work, (4 days instead of 2) spoilt me to the good life. And I just didn't want to get up.

But, then crazy, happy things started happening. On Boxing day our flat received a call at 4am. Needless to say, no one bothered answering. I woke up in the morning, and asked rather indignantly, who was crazy enough to call our house at 4am. My flat-mates denied any knowledge of who could be calling. I knew that I had called all my family, and they are always too confused by the time-difference, and calling codes to try anyway... So who could it have been....

Some random cold-call from India.... A distance cousin who landed in London needing accomodation... A friend I met travelling... Nope ... Just after pulling myself from the shower, the phone rang again this morning. My beautiful flat-mate took the call. And it was for me. My deliciously confused friend Brydie had figured out her time zones all wrong and had only factored in 8 hours difference. But, thankfully she did. Otherwise, I would never have been at home.

So, my day was started with the wonderful sounds of friendship. The kind of friendship that picks up right where it left off. It started my day so much better than I was expecting to... Then my breakfast of chocolate fudge brownie and juice, really helped as well. Then I walked past the crazy capitalists of this wonderful city. The sales have started in earnest here. A very well-known shop called 'Next' started at 5am this morning. I walked past several keen shoppers with bags at 7.30am this morning. Clearly, there were work clothes and other exciting joy they couldn't live without that needed buying at 5am.... Go figure....

Now, here I sit.... Posed and ready for the day.... What other excitement could come my way today? In London, anything goes, and it just might.

Just for the record.... London is 11 hours behind Australia (Eastern Standard Time). So if it is 10am in Melbourne, then it is 11pm in London (the day before).

When the clocks go back, then it is only 9 hours. But, I'll perhaps explain that bit when we get to it. Take care out there.
