Random Delights

Holly: Sorry to hear your hamster died Bob... Bob: Window cleaners for British rail should watch out for flying man-eating deckchairs today, swimming in from the south along with the flea-ridden coathangers. The muffin man is responsible for the sudden outburst of rain yesterday as he forgot to pay the rent on his blue strawberries. I'm sorry, did you say you wanted a biscuit? Holly: Random! Custard cream please.

My wand got stolen & then the owl flew out the window

Well... the weather in London in mental. Today, allegedly the winds got up to 90km/hour. But, that is not the reason for my blog. The area in which I work, has traditionally been well known for thieves to operate. Sadly, they have targetted me in the most heart-breaking way.

I was given a gift at Christmas time, that I thought would be more usefully employed at my work place. Now, don't get me wrong ... a pink sparkly wand that 'ta-tinkles' is always going to come in useful ... But, really just how much do you want to carry it around in your bag. So I thought that maybe my work place might be a good place to take it.

As most of you should know, I work in a children's department. One of the most important things we do is with the work of play specialists to distract children whilst having treatments. We have many toys that we use, but those which light up are the most important.

So, after ONLY 24 hours of dedicated use at my work place .... IT WAS STOLEN. (and then an owl flew out the window). Well, actually the owl didn't really, well actually maybe it did, but I wasn't there to see it ... The last bit about the owl, my work mate added to the story when I was telling it today. So, whilst Christmas is the time for giving, at my work place it was the time for stealing. Chocolates, wands, drinks, phones, wallets, groceries... Everything you could sneak into a bag was taken. Now, whilst I sympathise with the need to have a wand, I really think that is just not cool.

Funny thing is ... they didn't even take the post-it notes. Now, really if you are going to steal, you should at least take the post-it notes. They are so handy. Surely any thief would need them to make lists or maybe leave ransom notes... Just me... Okay....

I understand about the post-its... I have extra large ones on my desk (sometimes you need to make extra large notes!), as well as normal size ones, and now even some little baby ones (sometimes it's just a small note) which I think are adorable.
I'm sad about your wand. We'll have to get you a new one!
