Random Delights

Holly: Sorry to hear your hamster died Bob... Bob: Window cleaners for British rail should watch out for flying man-eating deckchairs today, swimming in from the south along with the flea-ridden coathangers. The muffin man is responsible for the sudden outburst of rain yesterday as he forgot to pay the rent on his blue strawberries. I'm sorry, did you say you wanted a biscuit? Holly: Random! Custard cream please.

New Yaaaaaark

It all started on Saturday February 23rd. Jo and I got up very, very early and got on many trains and buses to get our little cute selves to Gatwick airport. I had to get up so early, I didn't even get to drink any coffee. Needless to say, by the time we finally got on the plane I was so desperate for coffee, I even drank airplane coffee. (but that is a whole different story).

So there I am, all smiles, despite pretty much 9 hours of no real coffee.... Look at how happy I look. It was about 2 degrees and it was snowing. I think it was the adrenaline from getting off the plane and carrying my backpack again. Jo and I successfully negotiated the local trains and subway and found out way to the hostel.

You can see that we had fun in Central Park with the snow. We even discovered a new mate called Snownie. He was one-armed, but still very friendly. It was surprisingly warm, despite the snow. Central park was beautiful and I loved being all wrapped up and warm.

Jo and I accidently ended up in Queens (a suburb of New York), which was a bit scary. When you don't know where you are in a big city, it can get a bit hairy. We eventually got to the airport and picked up Sheree. It is never easy carting luggage around a city, but thankfully I have abnormally strong arms, so it wasn't so much trouble to move all her luggage.

So, what does New York have to offer.... Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, restaurants, Magnolia bakery (the world famous one), riding the subway, eating bagels and lots of cream cheese, and drinking bad coffee.

Statue of Liberty

Oh look. It's us girls outside Tiffany's. I was insistent that I had to visit Tiffany's. It has been raining all day and it we felt like scraggy shaggy girls. Never-the-less, I entered into the most glorious shop in the world. We were escorted to the lift, then escorted in the lift by a delightful man who encouraged us all to 'let it out'. So, there was screaming and laughing and screeching.

I maintained my composure long enough to buy myself the signature Tiffany bracelet, complete with the Tiffany box. What an excitement. I think that was the bestest and most exciting thing ever.

We certainly helped to bring in Jo's birthday with a bang. I can't think of any more exciting way to celebrate a birthday. Now... about those presents hey Jo!
