A wee, little while back in ... ohh.. let's say March.... I awoke early so I could dive into a little car and sing away the time with 3 great mates. Let's call these mates Amaka, KellyAnne and Violet. Or as I tend to call them Maks, SmellyAnne and Whyolet.
That's our driver Amaka. We let her drive, but since she does own the car it seemed only fair!
So here's the plan... drive out of crazy London, and shop for a bit. Then find a delightful country pub to dine in. Seems like a really easy plan. Nothing could go wrong.
Only thing is, after shopping our little feet off, I was insistent that we go to a proper English Country Pub. Not a pretend one. Not Carluccio's, as one person tried to talk me into. Noooo Wayy.... I wanted proper English Country Pub food. So off we drove. I mean, how hard can it be to find an English Country Pub?
Harder than you would think. After parking up near Biscester village, and walking around aimelssly for about an hour.... we discovered the reason we all live INSIDE the M25. No one stops serving food inside the M25. Outside the M25 - all food is turned off at 2pm. No extra consideration, no happy love for us. Nope. Too bad you stupid city-slickers. Get out of our town and find your own food. (well they didn't say that in actual words, but you get the drift).
I took responsibility for the map holding and felt directed by God to keep looking. I felt it was a responsibility for us to FIND a proper English Country Pub. Down that lane, take that left, over that rickety bridge, turn over that road... over that footpath... wait there it is... i see it ...... B******S. Yes, I actually did say that. (it's an English swear word). I had directed us to the most delightful English Country Pub, that declared that the food was the best in the village. It had even won awards.... but were were 10 minutes too late. They did not want to serve food to us. Go away city-slickers.

Finally, we condeeded defeat and drove towards Oxford. It was like the wise men following the star of David to visit baby Jesus. Only this time, we were 4 hungry girls, following the roadsigns to Oxford. And it was daylight, and I couldn't see any stars. But, you get the point... !
Then just like that... after driving around for 2 hours...
There it is ... like a diamond in the rough. Waiting for us...serving food ALL DAY. Yippee.
Food, glorious food. Roast chicken, big fat steak, big fat chips, big fat gravy. All of my favourite things. Glory, Glory, glorious food.
